Deploying Machine-Learning based Anomaly Detection For Embedded Mixed-Criticality Systems: a Feedback

In this presentation, we propose to evaluate the deployability of machine-learning based HIDS (Host Intrusion Detection Systems) into an embedded mixed-criticality sytems (MCS). For this, we develop an online monitoring framework on an industrial embedded MCS platform to detect anomalies tracing hardware performance counters and analyzing the traces with a Long Short Term Memory neural network. We implement our machine-learning based ADS on SYSGO’s real-time OS PikeOS to support real-time critical deployment use-cases. We evaluate the feasibility for deploying such machine learning based anomaly detection frame- work in embedded systems, leveraging three applications from TaCLeBench benchmarks.
